📖 About

Al Marmoom is a statement: ten percent of Dubai's entire land area set aside as an unfenced conservation reserve, open to everyone for free. Within it live Arabian oryx, sand gazelles, desert foxes and more than 200 bird species, spread across dunes, ghaf groves and a chain of man-made lakes.

Unlike classic safari territory, you can self-drive its marked access routes, cycle its edges from the Al Qudra track, or join guided experiences — from wildlife-focused conservation drives to stargazing sessions at the reserve's dedicated astronomy events.

The magic hours are the edges of the day: arrive before sunrise and you'll watch oryx herds file past the lakes in golden light, with the city a rumour on the horizon.

⭐ Highlights

  • Free-roaming Arabian oryx and gazelle herds
  • Chain of desert lakes drawing flamingos and 200+ bird species
  • Open free access — no gates, no tickets
  • Guided conservation safaris and stargazing experiences
  • Ghaf-tree groves and picnic spots

💡 Insider Tips

  • Sunrise beats sunset for wildlife — animals water early, crowds come late.
  • Stay on established tracks in a 2WD; soft sand starts fast.
  • Binoculars transform the lakes — flamingo flocks sit far out.
  • No music, no littering, no feeding — it's a working reserve.
