📖 About

Wind and sand carved this outcrop into a resting camel — head, neck and hump legible enough that every Mleiha guide detours for it, and every camera obliges. It's the lighthearted counterpoint to the area's heavyweight archaeology.

The rock also marks good wandering country: fossil-bearing stones scatter the flats around it, dune lines rise behind for sunset scrambles, and the crowds that mob Big Red never make it out here.

File under: small detour, disproportionate delight — best claimed at golden hour when the camel's shadow stretches across the sand.

⭐ Highlights

  • A natural rock camel, no filter needed
  • Fossil-scattered flats around the base
  • Sunset silhouette photography
  • Part of every good Mleiha safari loop
  • Free and never crowded

💡 Insider Tips

  • Guides include it on request — just ask when booking Mleiha drives.
  • The camel reads best from the southeast angle; circle until it clicks.
  • Soft sand surrounds it — self-drivers deflate and commit.
  • Climb gently if at all; erosion sculpted it, boots un-sculpt it.
