The Dubai Mall
The world's most visited mall — a city under one roof at the foot of the Burj Khalifa
A 10-million-litre tank in a mall — sharks, rays and a legendary crocodile
One of the largest suspended aquariums on Earth sits in the middle of a shopping mall: a 10-million-litre tank holding thousands of animals — including one of the world's biggest populations of sand tiger sharks — behind an acrylic panel so large it held a Guinness record.
The ticketed experience takes you through the 48-metre tunnel beneath the sharks and up into the Underwater Zoo, home of King Croc — a 5-metre, 750 kg saltwater crocodile — plus otters, penguins, piranhas and a UAE ecosystems floor. Add-ons run from glass-bottom boat rides to cage snorkels and full shark dives for certified and beginner divers.
Budget hack that stays true: the main viewing panel is on the free mall concourse — you can watch the sharks glide past for nothing, and decide from there whether the tunnel calls.
