The world's most glamorous race night — millions in prizes, fashion and fireworks at Meydan
One Saturday each March, Meydan Racecourse — its mile-long grandstand alone an architectural spectacle — hosts the Dubai World Cup: one of horse racing's richest nights, a card of Group races worth over thirty million dollars, drawing champions from Japan, the US, Europe and the Gulf.
It's equal parts sport and society: international racing royalty in the paddock, a famous style-and-hats scene (the Style Stakes competition is an event in itself), concerts between races and a closing fireworks-and-drone show over the track. No on-course betting (this is the UAE) — free competitions replace it, which keeps the night family-friendly.
Insider angle: through the winter season, regular Meydan race nights run most Fridays with free or cheap general entry — the same track, floodlit racing and grandstand for the price of a coffee.
