Khasab Dhow Cruise
The fjords by traditional dhow — dolphins, cushions and endless tea
The Portuguese-era fort guarding the fjord capital
The Portuguese built Khasab's fort in the 17th century to control the Strait of Hormuz trade; the Omanis took it back and kept it working ever since. Its squat towers and central turret now house Musandam's museum — fjord life, dhow culture, the mountain Shihuh people and their curious summer/winter house types.
Compact and charming, it's the standard first stop before a dhow departure: an hour of context that makes the fjords, villages and Telegraph Island stories land properly.
