Old RAK Corniche Heritage Walk
Creekside old town — pearling houses, dhows and the unhurried north
The Qawasim rulers' fort — 7,000 years of RAK under one tower
The fort that houses RAK's National Museum was the Qawasim rulers' residence into the 1960s — fitting, since this dynasty of seafarers once commanded the lower Gulf and gave the British Empire its hardest regional fight. The museum tells that maritime story alongside 7,000 years of settlement.
Collections run from Umm an-Nar tombs and Julfar's medieval-port ceramics (RAK's ancestor city traded to China) to pearling, silver and the working wind tower above the courtyard — a compact, satisfying primer before the emirate's field sites at Dhayah and Shimal.
