The oldest mosque in the UAE — four mud domes, six centuries of prayer
Al Bidyah has held prayers since at least the 15th century — the oldest mosque still standing in the UAE: a tiny mud-and-stone masterpiece whose four shallow domes rest on a single central pillar, engineering as elegant as anything the centuries added elsewhere.
Non-Muslim visitors are welcomed between prayers (modest dress; abayas lent). Behind it, ruined watchtowers crown the hill above ancient settlement terraces — climb for coast views that explain why people have defended this spot for millennia. The archaeological tombs nearby complete the site's 💎 layer.
