📖 About

Ibn Battuta Mall is named after the 14th-century Moroccan explorer who out-travelled Marco Polo, and its six courts recreate the lands he journeyed through: China, India, Persia, Egypt, Tunisia and Andalusia. The result is the world's largest themed mall — and the only one where people come as much for the ceilings as the shops.

Each court is genuinely elaborate: a full-size Chinese junk ship, an Indian court crowned by a life-size elephant with mechanical rider, and the Persia Court's hand-painted dome — the most photographed mall ceiling in the UAE, with a Starbucks improbably sitting beneath it.

The 270+ stores are more mid-range than designer, which keeps prices friendlier than Downtown. Between the themed architecture, the history plaques and the low crowds, it doubles as a free indoor attraction on a hot day.

⭐ Highlights

  • Six themed courts: China, India, Persia, Egypt, Tunisia, Andalusia
  • The Persia Court painted dome — Dubai's most photogenic coffee stop
  • Full-size Chinese junk ship and the India Court elephant
  • 270+ mid-range stores with better prices than Downtown
  • Usually the least crowded of Dubai's mega malls

💡 Insider Tips

  • Enter at the India or Persia court gates to see the best courts first.
  • It's a long, linear mall (over 1 km end to end) — don't plan to backtrack.
  • Good stop between the Marina and Expo City — the metro station makes it an easy break.
  • Look up: the exhibit plaques on Ibn Battuta's travels are genuinely worth reading.
