Masfout Mountain Village
Ajman's mountain exclave — cool air, old watchtowers and Hajar horizons
The dune-flanked approach to the mountains — Ajman's desert in motion
Ajman's desert experience is a journey rather than a destination: the drive inland toward Masfout crosses classic dune country — amber sands pressing the roadside, camel farms behind wire, and the Hajar wall rising slowly ahead through the haze.
The corridor shares its best stretch with the famous Big Red/Al Badayer dunes zone, so sand-play (quads, sandboarding) is a pull-over away, while quieter side tracks lead to picnic dunes with no company but camels.
Treat it as the scenic prologue and epilogue of a mountain day — windows down at golden hour, the dunes doing their colour change on cue.
