Masfout Mountain Village
Ajman's mountain exclave — cool air, old watchtowers and Hajar horizons
The scenic back road almost nobody takes — ridgelines between two exclaves
The highway crowds barrel down the E44; the initiated slip onto the local road linking Masfout to Hatta — a winding foothill route past wadi beds, acacia flats, farm plots and ridge viewpoints, with mountain layers stacking to the Omani border.
It's a drive to be savoured rather than survived: pull-offs invite photo stops, goats own the right of way, and after rains the valleys flush startlingly green.
As a connector it turns two mountain exclaves into one perfect day: Masfout's villages and dam, the back-road ridges, then Hatta's dam, heritage village and karak — the northern mountains, joined up.
