Palm Jumeirah & The Pointe
The man-made island seen from space — and the waterfront that faces Atlantis
The only place to actually see the palm shape — 240 metres above the island
Here's the secret about Palm Jumeirah: from the ground, you can't see the palm at all. The only way to appreciate the world-famous shape — the trunk, the 16 fronds, the crescent breakwater and Atlantis at the crown — is from above, and The View at The Palm is built for exactly that.
The observation deck sits on level 52 of The Palm Tower, 240 metres above the centre of the island, with floor-to-ceiling glass on all sides. One direction looks down the fronds to the crescent and Atlantis; the other looks back across the water at the Marina skyline — arguably the best two-for-one view in the city.
An interactive exhibition on the way up tells the genuinely wild story of how the island was built from 120 million cubic metres of dredged sand, guided by GPS satellite. It's smaller and calmer than the Burj Khalifa decks — rarely a queue, never a crush.
