📖 About

The Waterfront Market is where Dubai actually buys its food: a huge, modern, air-conditioned hall on the Deira corniche where the day's catch comes in glistening on ice — hammour, kingfish, safi, whole tuna, crabs, and prawns by the crate — alongside halls for fruit, vegetables, meat and dry goods.

The move that makes it a destination: buy your fish at market price, take it to the cleaning counters, then hand it to one of the cook-your-catch grill restaurants on site. Twenty minutes later you're eating the freshest seafood dinner in Dubai for a fraction of restaurant prices.

It replaced the beloved old Deira fish souk but kept its soul — porters with barrows, traders shouting prices, and genuine local energy. Go at dawn if you want the full theatre of the catch arriving.

⭐ Highlights

  • The freshest and cheapest seafood in the city
  • Buy-clean-grill: on-site restaurants cook your catch
  • Fruit, vegetable, meat and dry-goods halls under one roof
  • Air-conditioned and spotless — market energy without the chaos
  • Real local life, five minutes from the Gold Souk

💡 Insider Tips

  • Prices are negotiable, especially buying more than one fish — and they drop late evening.
  • Cleaning costs a few dirhams per fish; grilling is charged per kilo — agree both up front.
  • Local favourites: sheri and safi for grilling, hammour for curries, jumbo prawns for the win.
  • Dawn (5–7 AM) is when the boats' catch lands — the best photos and the best selection.
