Carpet Souk (Mina Zayed)
Rolled kilims, Afghan knots and real bargaining in the old port district
Weekend flea-market energy in the port — browse, bargain, breakfast
The Mina Friday Souq is Abu Dhabi's weekend browse: trestle-table territory where carpets, plants, pots, tools, toys, electronics and gloriously uncategorisable goods change hands against the port backdrop, alongside the district's established carpet, pottery and plant souks.
It's less a shopping mission than a Friday-morning ritual — coffee, wander, haggle over something you didn't know you wanted, watch the port city be itself. Prices start low and negotiate lower; the people-watching is free and excellent.
The Mina Zayed district is mid-renaissance (new food halls and venues joining the old markets), so the souq's exact footprint shifts — but weekend mornings, follow the crowds off the Corniche's east end and you'll find it.
