Al Noor Mosque
Ottoman elegance on the lagoon — Sharjah's most beautiful mosque, open to visitors
The city becomes the canvas — mosques and museums painted in light each February
Every February, Sharjah's grandest architecture — the University City mosques, the Islamic Civilization Museum's golden dome, Al Noor Mosque, forts and corniche facades — becomes a screen for world-class projection art: choreographed light-and-sound works by international artists, wrapped around real minarets and domes.
It's the emirate's signature event and completely free: families drive a circuit of sites each evening, food trucks and markets spring up at the anchor venues, and the finales at Khalid Lagoon reflect across the water.
For visitors it's the best possible introduction to Sharjah — the city's cultural monuments, presented at their most theatrical, with the whole town out enjoying them.
