Kite Beach
Kitesurfers, food trucks and the best Burj Al Arab sunset in town
The postcard shot of the Burj Al Arab — and Dubai's only real surf break
Officially Umm Suqeim Beach, universally called Sunset Beach: this compact stretch of sand sits directly beside the Burj Al Arab, and at golden hour the sail-shaped hotel fills the frame from the waterline — the single most photographed angle in Dubai.
It's also the closest thing the city has to a surf beach. When winter swells arrive, a genuine little surf community paddles out at first light, and boards are rentable nearby. The rest of the time it's a relaxed swim-and-picnic beach with full facilities.
Smaller and calmer than JBR or Kite Beach, it attracts photographers, surfers and hotel guests from the Madinat next door. Stay after sundown — the Burj Al Arab's lights come on and the tripod crowd goes home too early.
